Former Ghana captain\u00a0Asamoah Gyan<\/a>\u00a0has reacted to a photo of his old self which has resurfaced on social media.<\/p>\n

A photo of a young Gyan from the mid-2000s went viral on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, with many football fans in awe of his transformation.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the viral photo, Gyan re-shared it on his Instagram page, accompanied by the caption:\u00a0\u201cCharley, na I be fine ooo. Have a lovely week.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Meanwhile, Gyan recently revealed that his first salary as a professional footballer for Ghana Premier League side\u00a0Liberty Professionals was GHc100<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gyan retired in 2023 after a career that spanned two decades<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

Gyan joined the Dansoman-based side straight from excelling at the colts level and became one of the shining lights in the Ghanaian topflight.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

After just a year, though, he secured a dream move to the Italian club Udinese, where he spent the next five years of his career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He went on to play for Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG, Kayserispor, NorthEast United and Legon Cities before hanging his boots.<\/p>\n

Discussing his first professional contract, however, the 38-year-old said his transfer fee when he joined Liberty was GHc500, while his salary was only GHc100.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI was signed for GHc500 by Liberty. That was my signing fee, five million old currency. From [playing at] colts, then Liberty signed me for GHc500. But I was given GHc250 out of it, so I always tell them they owe me now,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Gyan said on YFM Ghana last month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMy first contract at Udinese, I was earning \u20ac3,700 a month. At Liberty, I was earning GHc100 a month and then I moved to \u20ac3,700. I was then loaned to Modena for two years.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He added:\u00a0\u201cIn Modena, I was earning \u20ac7,000 and something, so my salary moved up. I won\u2019t say the rest. After the loan, I came back to Udinese. That was after the 2006 World Cup. I was a World Cup material, so it had gone up again.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe following year I had a huge contract to move to Russia but they decided they wanted me to stay for another year, so they had to change my contract. And that was when I started making money.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Gyan is currently Ghana\u2019s record scorer<\/a> with 51 goals and also the country\u2019s second most-capped player of all time behind only Andre Ayew.<\/p>\n
