The Bawumia Campaign Team<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0spokesperson Dennis Miracles Aboagye\u00a0 has said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)<\/a> and its flagbearer, John Mahama, continue to steal policies and ideas from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n

According to Miracles Aboagye, the National Democratic Congress<\/a> continues to steal ideas from the New Patriotic Congress, but they never fully understand the idea because it is not their own.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show<\/em> on Tuesday (13 August), Miracles Aboagye said, \u201cIt is public knowledge that the NDC consistently steals from the NPP in terms of ideas.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou cannot give me even one evidence of the NPP stealing any idea from the NDC,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd let me give you one indication. So we\u2019ve had an opposition leader who has been an opposition leader for close to eight years. A de facto flag bearer has been a perennial leader of the NDC, now, he sits down, we elected our flagbearer in November, barely seven, eight months ago, and he\u2019s going to launch his manifesto on Sunday (18 August).<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the flagbearer of the NDC, that has been a perennial leader of the NDC and an opposition leader for eight years, still has not given an indication of when he\u2019s going to launch his manifesto.\u201d<\/p>\n

He claimed that the NDC is waiting for them to launch their manifesto so that they can steal their policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd let me tell you what\u2019s going to happen, they wait, we go in on Sunday, launch a manifesto. They look at the framework we have developed, look at the policies, and basically begin to steal.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cSo however you say, I\u2019ll create one million jobs, they will come and say, We\u2019ll create two million jobs. Whatever you say, I\u2019ll give this to the hairdressers. They\u2019ll come and say, I\u2019ll give it to dressmakers and hairdressers. And that is the fact.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, the NPP has been a victim of the NDC\u2019s thievery.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, there\u2019s some thievery. But there\u2019s a culprit and there\u2019s a victim. And we are the victims, and the NDC is the culprit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we came back in 2017 and we set the country on a particular path, i.e. make life convenient for the citizens, provide the basic necessities for every Ghanaian everywhere to thrive, to at least aspire to be great.\u201d<\/p>\n

NPP Manifesto<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The New Patriotic Party<\/a> (NPP) is set to launch its 2024 manifesto on Sunday (18 August 2024), in Takoradi in the Western Region.<\/p>\n

Miracles Aboagye revealed some of the policies to be unveiled on Sunday, stating that the NPP presidential candidate, Mahmudu Bawumia, will focus heavily on jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the 2024 manuscripts on Sunday, expect Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP to be heavy on jobs and businesses. We are able to do that because, in the past eight years, we have worked so hard to create a certain level of convenience for the Ghanaian people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn doing that, we\u2019ve had difficulties on the business end of it because the economy has struggled with COVID and the Russia-declared war.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019ve been trying to do in the past two to three years. That is why you see the economy go so badly, went all the way to 54% with inflation, and now it\u2019s coming down to about 23%. You see GDP improving,\u201d Aboagye said.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cMahamudu Bawumia\u2019s pre occupation in the Manifesto for 2024 is to say that let\u2019s expand the economy, create a resilient economy that can withstand a lot more than it did when COVID struck in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCreate the fiscal space and the right environment for the business community so they can increase production and, by so doing, employ more. As we create the skills set for the young people, as we educate them, as we improve TVET, and we are creating a lot more skilled young people, there\u2019s a need to create the jobs for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the manifesto is going to focus on creating an enabling environment, introducing policies that will boost businesses so they can produce more, expand and then employ more young people.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that will be very welcome news to people, and again, not so different from what we gather the drift of the NDC\u2019s manifesto will be.<\/p>\n

\u201d People will be interested to see, given the recent complaints by businesses about whether this will involve things such as the removal of certain taxes or levies that have been imposed over the past eight years.<\/p>\n

He added that Ghanaians should expect Bawumia to speak about SME financing, which has already started in this manifesto.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout two, three weeks ago, the President launched the SME fund, which is geared towards providing the needed financing to our small and medium enterprises, so they can have the right capacity to produce more.<\/p>\n

Reducing taxes\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bawumia has been advocating for a comprehensive tax reduction system.<\/p>\n

According to Miracles Aboagye, \u201cWe can afford to reduce some of these taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s why he [Bawummia] speaks of removing the A-level tax, removing the medicine tax. And these are things that the vice-president believes that once we do this, it will create a certain space for businesses to be able to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

He encouraged business owners in particular to look forward to the removal of those taxes, such as the e-levy and the betting tax, etc.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cAnd once they are thriving, they can do more. And once they are doing more, they will need more hands to employ more people.<\/p>\n
