Renowned Ghanaian actor Agya Koo<\/a> says the collapse of the Kumawood<\/a> movie industry should be blamed on his sidelining for roles at the time.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Kumasi-based radio station Ezra FM<\/em>, the veteran actor claimed that his exclusion at the time grossly affected the industry, particularly because he remains the most marketable Ghanaian actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey sidelined me, and now they blame the emergence of CDs for the collapse of the industry, which is not true. But they will not accept this fact,\u201d Agya Koo lamented.<\/p>\n

Agya Koo reminisced about the once vibrant Kumawood industry, noting that his name was synonymous with Ghanaian cinema, especially among the Ghanaian diaspora, notably in the USA.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that inquiries about Ghanaian movies would invariably include a key question: \u201cIs Agya Koo part of the cast?\u201d  This, according to him, was evidence of his unmatched marketability and influence at the time, until he was sidelined.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough I was not the only one acting at the time, at the time people wanted to watch Ghanaian movies, they mentioned the name Agya Koo. Why didn\u2019t they ask for someone else\u2019s name?\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Prior to the ruling New Patriotic Party<\/a>\u2019s (NPP) presidential elections early this month, Agya Koo dropped a new song to support Kennedy Agyapong\u2019s presidential bid.<\/p>\n

Agya Koo has not hidden his support for the Member of Parliament for Assin Central<\/a> and was quite vocal about the businessman\u2019s capabilities to govern the country after his loss.<\/p>\n
