UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak<\/a> has been fined by police for failing to wear a seatbelt while riding in a car.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Sunak<\/a>, who was filming a social media clip at the time of the offense, received a \u201cconditional offer of fixed penalty\u201d by Lancashire Constabulary.<\/p>\n

A downing street spokesperson on Friday (20 January) said the British leader \u201cwill of course comply\u201d with the penalty.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Prime Minister fully accepts this was a mistake,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n

Sunak\u2019s spokesperson had previously said on Thursday that Sunak apologised for a \u201cbrief error of judgment\u201d while he filmed an Instagram video in northern England, and urged people to wear their seatbelt.<\/p>\n

Lancashire Police said: \u201cYou will be aware that a video has been circulating on social media showing an individual failing to wear a seat belt while a passenger in a moving car in Lancashire.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter looking into this matter, we have today (Friday, 20th January) issued a 42-year-old man from London with a conditional offer of fixed penalty.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the UK, failure to wear a seatbelt when one is available can result in a fine of up to \u00a3500, unless you are covered by a valid exception.<\/p>\n

This is the second time police have fined Sunak while he holds public office.
