The son of Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong Jr has recounted when he used his father\u2019s name to get out of trouble but failed.<\/h2>\n

The son of Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong is one of the founders of Afrochella, now rebranded as AfroFuture. He has shared how the use of his father\u2019s name did not get him out of an issue he found himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember when I first came to Ghana, in 2014, I was going back [to America] for holidays,\u201d he told Andy Dosty on Accra-based Hitz FM, Tuesday, January 10, 2023. \u201cI had a visa but I didn\u2019t know when they stamp the visa it says \u201960 Days\u2019 but then you have to renew it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Kennedy Agyapong Jr thought because he had a five-year visa, he \u201ccould go [and] come,\u201d as he pleased.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, this is the first time I used his [my father\u2019s] name and it backfired,\u201d he recalled and illustrated with a story at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), Accra.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was at the airport and the Immigration Officer informed me that my visa had expired. I insisted it said five years but he showed me that the 60 days I had been given had elapsed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He disclosed how he got angry and challenged the officer. According to him, for the first time, he used the phrase,  \u201cDo you know who I am?\u201d<\/p>\n

When the officer did not budge, \u201cI called Honourable [his politician father],\u201d he demonstrated being on a phone call with his right hand.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe officer said [to my father], \u2018He overstayed\u2019,\u201d the 33-year-old Kencity Media Limited boss recalled. \u201cI had been in Ghana for one year and there was a penalty and he [the officer] said, \u2018It\u2019s US$360, the penalty\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy jr stated that when his father spoke to the officer, he said, \u201cOh, let him pay the penalty.\u201d<\/p>\n

I was thinking he was going bail me out, but, no, no, no, he told me to pay,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey took the [penalty] money and gave me a receipt and everything, and I was like, \u2018Oh, man! It didn\u2019t work,\u201d he laughed.<\/p>\n
