Ghanaian reggae artiste Theophilus Nii Ardy A.K.A Epixode has said that the Musicians Union of Ghana {MUSIGA} is working for some individuals only and not for the musicians in Ghana. In an interview with host DJ Nyaami on We Dey Vybe on SVTV Africa, the Ogbooni hit maker said , he used to pay dues to MUSIGA until he realized the union is not working for Musicians but some individuals only.
“Oh yeah, I used to pay my dues very well sometimes back and i think, excuse me to say, it wasn’t helping at all so i stopped. I think MUSIGA is working for some individuals only and not for musicians in Ghana. I don’t know about the next artiste, but me like this MUSIGA has not done anything for me”
When asked if he is a member of MUSIGA, he said “No i am not a member, I registered and i have my card but then i have never been to their meetings, because the union is not in any way helping me. He also said that, MUSIGA has to put proper structures in place to help Musicians get their royalties especially th veteran Musician who has done good Music for over 50 years.
On rating the out going MUSIGA president Obour, on scale of 1-10, Epixode, without mincing words said “No disrespect but i will give him 4-5. i am saying that because, I think some of us has gotten they opportunity to go the neighboring countries and things are done differently there than that of Ghana. I won’t rate him alone though but the whole team.
Epixode has tipped D-Black a rapper and businessman to be the suitable person to head MUSIGA.
