Antoine Semeyo scores against Partey’s Arsenal in Bournemouth defeat

Antoine Semenyo continued his impressive form from last season by scoring for Bournemouth, but the Cherries were ultimately defeated by Arsenal on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Los Angeles.

Arsenal, beginning their three-match tour of the United States, took the lead in the first half through Fabio Vieira. The Portuguese midfielder met a deep cross from Reiss Nelson, volleying it into the bottom corner to give the Gunners an early advantage.

Despite Arsenal’s lead, Bournemouth fought back and equalised after the break.

Semenyo, introduced as a substitute for Marcus Tavernier, made an immediate impact by scoring a well-placed shot that deflected off Omar Rekik and into the far corner of the net.

The match was decided by a penalty shootout, with Arsenal emerging victorious 5-4. Ryan Christie’s missed penalty proved decisive, handing Arsenal the win.

Arsenal’s squad featured significant contributions from experienced players, including Thomas Partey, who played 62 minutes before being replaced by Jorginho. Emile Smith Rowe was the only notable absentee, with rumours linking him to a move to Fulham.

This match concludes Bournemouth’s pre-season tour of California, which also included a 2-2 draw against Wrexham.

Arsenal will continue their tour with a fixture against Manchester United at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will look to build on their pre-season performances as they aim to secure silverware in the upcoming season.
