Stand-up comedian and actor Funny Face has revealed that he bought poison worth GHC80 from Croatia to commit suicide at a point in life.
Speaking to Naa Ashorkor on the Between Hours show, he said, “I went to buy rat poison to kill myself.”
“But it was when I was waiting for the change that I realised I wasn’t ready to die, because how can someone who is ready to die be waiting for his balance?” he said.
“It happened, and I can’t sugarcoat it, so I bought it GHC80 from Croatia,” the product ambassador said. “Their rats are stubborn, so their rat poison works faster.”
I made mistakes in life
“I was waiting for the change, so I noticed that I was not ready to die,” Funny Face reiterated.
According to him, he decided to commit suicide because he felt he had made so many mistakes in life.
“It is very lonely at the top when you climb the success ladder. You might have people around you, but sometimes the love isn’t real. My manager advised me a lot, and somewhere along the line I got famous and began to lose it,” he said.
Funny Face added that his recovery from a series of depression that took him off stage for years has encouraged him to appreciate the need to assist those who are also struggling with personal issues.
“When you get famous, what used to be normal to you won’t be normal to you again because you are walking and everybody is shouting your name, especially kids. I got carried away, and that was my downfall,” he said.
Funny Face has therefore advised celebrities to be humble and keep their circle close.
“I used to have thousands of people around me. Now I have just four people I’m working with. Keep the people in your circle before you become famous; those who came after that do not truly know you,” the actor added.
